Mrs. West - Band

Welcome to my page! I have been a teacher at Greensburg Salem since 2003. I teach Band and Music Technology at the Middle School and the Concert, Marching and Jazz Bands at the High School. I grew up in this area and am proud to call Greensburg my home!

After graduating from Mt. Pleasant Area High School, I earned my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from West Virginia University. One of the best experiences I ever had was getting to march at WVU, playing piccolo and mellophone in "The Pride of West Virginia"! I also had a lot of other performing opportunities as an undergrad, playing flute and horn in the Concert Band, flute in the Wind Symphony, basses in the steel band and singing in the Choral Union. I earned my Master of Arts in Music Education from Indiana University of PA, where I was a Graduate Assistant with the Marching Band, directed the Pep Band and played the horn in the Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra. I focused my thesis research at IUP on using different methods to influence student musical preferences.

I really enjoy making music and play as much as I can! I play flute in the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds and horn in the Westmoreland Symphony's Summer Philharmonic. I've also played woodwinds/reeds for our High School musicals every year and really enjoy getting to play for our talented students.
