SCHOLARSHIPS – 2022-2023 - In Order by Deadline



P.E.O. CHAPTER AJ – An International Philanthropic Education Organization, offers a scholarship award of $2,500 which may be applied for by exceptional graduating high school senior women.  It is a non-renewable award to be used toward attending an accredited post-secondary educational institute in the fall of the 2023 academic year.  A woman is eligible to be recommended for the P.E.O. Star Scholarship must:  exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities and community service; be in her senior year of high school; minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  To apply, submission of the school form must be mailed by Tuesday, October 5, 2022.  Additional information and school form available in the Guidance Office.


2023 PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS – In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy recounted the stories of eight US Senators who put the nation’s interests above their own.  They were guided by integrity and conscience, not party pressure or fear of losing the next election.  Here’s your chance to write the next profile in courage.  Contest topic:  Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of JFK’s birth.  Register and submit an essay at  Deadline for submission:  January 13, 2023.


LUCY A. VALERO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Administered by the PSEA Scholarship Trust - this scholarship is awarded to one or more outstanding students each year who plan to enroll in an accredited teacher preparation program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was established by the many friends of Lucy A. Valero in recognition of her dedicated service to education through her teaching and her years of service to the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
