Types of Transcripts:
There are two versions of your high school transcript: official and unofficial. Both versions contain the same information and will look the same or nearly identical, but an official transcript often includes an official seal or tamper-proof marks or is enclosed in a sealed envelope. This ensures no information on the transcript is altered.
An official transcript is sent from Greensburg Salem High School to either the employer or post-secondary school. It can be sent to a student/former student as a sealed document.
An unofficial transcript is one sent directly to a student/former student that is not sealed. It would be considered a “copy” of a transcript.
A high school transcript is a record of a student’s academic status.
It lists every class from 9th grade through 12th grade, including the year and grade received, GPA. Every student who attended high school has a transcript. If a student transferred to a different school during high school, the transcript will include each school and grades received, as well as those courses completed at Greensburg Salem.
Transcripts are usually needed for several reasons:
· College Applications: Most colleges require an official copy of a high school transcript as part of the application process and final acceptance upon graduation.
· Employment verification: When applying for a job, employers often require verification of a high school diploma. School transcripts are used to review grades or courses that may be applicable to the job.
· Course credits, transferring students: High school counselors will use transcripts in order to verify that students have met all graduation requirements. Transcripts are also used to determine which classes a student should enroll in if transferring from another district.
